has anybody else noticed a pattern that is here among us outcasts?
there seems to be, on average, a higher level of intelligence here than there is at the kingdom hall.
actually, intelligent conversation seems to be looked down upon among the witnesses.. also, the simple language skills found here seem to be above average compared to those among the witnesses.
my recollection of life in the cult--50 years ago now: there were a few men i would describe as intelligent, good jobs or own businesses. they attended to keep their wives company. rarely answered up..never gave any ministry school talks--never got baptised'
i wonder why ?
on the other hand--most of those keen dubs that were the servants ( pre-elder period remember ), who gave the public talks in their best suits.......were as thick as shit. mostly handle-pullers in factories.
we all have many reasons for leaving, most are doctrinal, some are emotional.
it's a religion which obsesses over factual proofs (counterfactual though they are) of its veracity rather than faith, so it's inevitable that most who leave will do so for intellectual reasons.
which doctrine above all others forced you to reconsider your position?
i left because i was fed up pretending and living a fake existence. i didnt believe in god. devil. spirits, armageddon, the resurrection. in fact---nothing that depended on having faith in something that cant be proven.
so i couldnt carry on being a jehovahs witness--because i hadnt witnessed him / her/ it.
this was in 1971.
it's that time of year again.. trying to decide if i should or shouldn't.
:-).
just take your own sandwiches and a 6 pack.
i posted this on r/exjw, but i thought i might post it here as well.
so the elders in our kh are moving to get us to sign new simplified blood cards and keep them on file.
i really need to not rock the boat in my current pimo status because of circumstances.. my cousin knows i have doubts about the blood thing, but i can’t show her that my doubts are getting to me.
pommeterre--you mention power of attorney
i'm in the UK--and i needed power of attorney on behalf of my father---with his full agreement, understanding and consent. it involved a solicitor visiting my dad in his care home---and getting a court order. it cost a lot of money.
so--is it something you have already entered into with your elders ?

so what are the elders likely to do if you decline their offer ?
i met a wonderful man on match.com several months ago.
on our first date, there was amazing chemistry and we ended up having sex.
it was not planned, it just happened.
i met my new wife through plenty of fish.
bumped for The Old Testicle. ( that would bring a few tears to my eyes )
this is my very first post.
i wonder if there is anybody out there who lives in devon, england, where we now live.
would like to here from you.. jdubhub
welcome to the site, Old Testicle. what a load of bollocks. heres a link to more UK members ( no--not that kind of member )
so i have been awake since about this time in 2013, so about 5 years.
and the craziest thing about it is that now, no one, and i mean no one know's i am an apostate.
meaning, that i don't believe the jw minds set/beliefs at all, and no one knows it.
if you really must stay in the congregation---have a bit of fun with it. when you answer up in the watchtower study--make a deliberate mistake. nothing really serious--but just enough to get a smile from any others who are also awake.
awake--? why stay awake--nod off during those looong boring talks. snore. fart.. never wear a suit. nor a tie in the warmer months. sandals even.
do you still do talks ? plenty of room for errors there.
never go to assemblies.
never contribute any money.
never volunteer for anything.
regularly miss going to meetings--at the last minute. especially if youre on the programme.
and as for door knocking.....
